Begin a New Year: Take Care of the Mail

This is a big deal for me. I tend to allow the mail to pile up. I don't know the reason for this, but I don't like to look at my mail. I will just let it sit on the table and do nothing with it. It can be anything, not all of it's bills. I will let it all sit on the table. When I do move the mail, I will separate the bills and the rest I will put on my dresser. There it will sit for ever. I really mean that. I had mail on my dresser from 2015. I decided this holiday that I would stop keeping the mail forever.

I went through all of the mail that I had collected to decide if there was anything that I needed to keep. That is when I found that I had mail from 2015 on my dresser. I found that I didn't need to keep anything. I now have to shred all of that mail. There are two boxes of mail that I have to shred. This could have been avoided if I had processed the mail as it arrived in my house.

That is my tip for this week. When the mail comes to your house, process it then. Don't wait, don't delay, don't pass go, just open the mail. What does "process" mean? It can mean different things for different people. You have to decide what "process" means to you. "Process" to me means opening the mail and deciding where it goes. If it's a bill it goes in one file, letters go in another, ads go in the trash. That is how I process the mail. The mail will not pile up because it is done each day.

Come up with your system to process your mail. It will take trial and error. That's ok, you are working on what will work for you not for someone else. You just have to make things work for you. But, do something. Starting is good. Today is a good day to start. Thanks for reading my blog. I hope this helps. Purple "irys" whenever this blog finds you.
